Dave and I are Board members at AANE. Dave served as co-chair of the Adult Services subcommittee of the Commission. Dania and I, as well as AANE Board member Dan Rosenn, served as Commissioners.<\/p>\n<p>Although the report was formally published yesterday, its recommendations had been made available earlier in the year, and two months ago AANE collaborated with the <a title=\"Massachusetts Disability Law Center (DLC)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dlc-ma.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Disability Law Center<\/a>, <a title=\"The Arc of Massachusetts\" href=\"https:\/\/www.arcmass.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">the Arc of Massachusetts<\/a>, and others to file two bills designed to implement the top priorities of the Commission.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"An Act to permit the Department of Developmental Services to provide services to adults with developmental disabilities\" href=\"http:\/\/www.malegislature.gov\/Bills\/188\/House\/H78\" target=\"_blank\">House Bill 78<\/a> (and identical <a title=\"An Act to permit the Department of Developmental Services to provide services to adults with developmental disabilities\" href=\"http:\/\/www.malegislature.gov\/Bills\/188\/Senate\/S908\" target=\"_blank\">Senate Bill 908<\/a>) seeks to expand eligibility for services provided by the <a title=\"Department of Developmental Services\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mass.gov\/eohhs\/gov\/departments\/dds\/\" target=\"_blank\">Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services<\/a> to include more people with developmental disabilities.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"An Act to ensure full and equal access to services from the Department of Mental Health for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and related conditions who otherwise meet the eligiblity criteria for DMH services\" href=\"http:\/\/www.malegislature.gov\/Bills\/188\/Senate\/S909\" target=\"_blank\">Senate Bill 909<\/a> (and identical <a title=\"An Act to ensure full and equal access to services from the Department of Mental Health for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related conditions who otherwise meet the eligibility criteria for the Department of Mental Health Services\" href=\"http:\/\/www.malegislature.gov\/Bills\/188\/House\/H1794\" target=\"_blank\">House Bill 1794<\/a>) would require the <a title=\"Department of Mental Health\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mass.gov\/eohhs\/gov\/departments\/dmh\/\" target=\"_blank\">Department of Mental Health<\/a> to provide services to people with an autism diagnosis, if needed.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Executive Summary of the Autism Commission report\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mfw.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/MA_Autism_Commission_ExecutiveSummary_2013_final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">An Executive Summary<\/a> of the report lists all the top priority recommendations on its last page.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Full report of the Autism Commission\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mfw.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/MA_Autism_Commission_full_report_2013_final_PDF.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">The full report<\/a> is 174 pages long.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Abbreviated version of the Autism Commission report\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mfw.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/03\/MA_Autism_Commission_abbrev_report_2013_final_PDF.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">An abbreviated version<\/a> contains 62 pages.<\/p>\n<p>All of this information is provided by me in my personal capacity, and is not meant to imply an endorsement by the Commission, AANE, or any other organization.
