My heritage
Michael Forbes Wilcox
This is my personal web page relating to my genealogy.
This is mostly based on material collected by my Grandmother Wilcox,
a lot of which came from her grandfather, Dr. Edwin Curtis Bidwell.

This document is a family tree, prepared by my mother, Annie Forbes Wilcox, based on information supplied to her by my grandmother.
It is only for my father's side of the family, and shows the roots of both of his parents in the Berkshires, going back to the mid-eighteenth century.
In this 3-page document, I show scans of 2 loose items and one page from E.C. Bidwell's genealogy journal.
- The poems were on a sheet of yellowed, slightly tattered heavy bond paper. I have no context for the document, but would guess that it was prepared for a Bidwell family reunion. The John Bidwell mentioned was one of the founders of Hartford, Connecticut (see page 3 for his place in the family tree).
- The newspaper article predates that, probably about 1904 (judging from a date on the other side of the clipping). The item of interest seems to be at the end of the article; a mention of Mabel Harlakenden, one of his ancestors (via Hayes and Wyllys or something like that -- I'll reproduce the whole tree at some point to show the connections).
- Page 101 is from the genealogical journal kept by Dr. Bidwell, whose name appears last on the page. As mentioned, he was my grandmother Wilcox's grandfather, and he served as a surgeon in the Civil War. He was disabled in a carriage accident later in life, and confined to a wheelchair. As a hobby, he carried on a wide correspondence to learn about his forebears.
Please see this portrait of one of my favorite people from my childhood, my Uncle John (Weiss). He was married to my grandmother's sister, Belle (Isabelle Bidwell).
