    Yes, there is: aptonym

    An aptronym, aptonym or euonym is a personal name aptly or peculiarly suited to its owner.

    One of my OB/Gyns was named Payne, for example. I’ve encountered others over the years, but none come to mind right now.

  1. Thanks. I think I used to know a different term for the phenomenon, but that’s lost somewhere in my memory banks.

    A web search produces many lists of examples, including ironic cases of mismatches. I’ve chosen a picture of baseball player Cecil Fielder for this post.
