Berkshire Win Without War

June 14, 2005

Unfortunately, more than two years into the occupation, there seems to be no end in sight. Two members of BWWW have put together a new website to focus attention on the ongoing need for us to protest the continued US presence in a place we are neither welcome nor effective.

Two members of the Berkshire Win Without War informal steering committee (Beth Bogart and Mickey Friedman) have spent the last many months developing a national website to help stimulate anti-Iraq War activity in communities across the country.

There are several features you might find interesting.
  • IRAQ BYTES is a weekly collection of articles about Iraq that you might have missed, with archives going back to January, 2005.
  • ACTION provides a simple leaflet that can be downloaded and distributed, and other materials to help with organizing.
  • For those of you who have been unable to hear Mickey's radio show, The Other Side, there are easily downloadable MP3 files of these shows which feature interviews with Iraq War vets, family members, information about military recruiting, etc - this works best with high-speed internet access.

Beth and Mickey are especially interested in any suggestions you might have. Send any thoughts to info@iraqproject.org.

And, of course, The Iraq Project welcomes any financial contributions you might make to help continue the work. Please click on the PayPal button at the bottom of the home page.

Here's some stuff I posted back in 2003:

My name is one of hundreds in an on-line petition at BerkshireWinWithoutWar.org.

We advertised it with a full-page ad in the Shopper's Guide.

Take a look at the billboard designed by Jim Baker and a letter to the editor of the Record by Renzo Del Molino.

We held a vigil in Great Barrington (in the event, we had over 400 people in attendance).

Here is an editorial from the NYT of 3/25
